Raiders Injury News: Yannick Ngakoue entered, Josh Jacobs released
Good old-fashioned news, bad news from the Las Vegas Raiders injury report ahead of their week two game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Athleticism Tashan Reed reported Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has said edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue will play with his hamstring injury, but Josh Jacobs’ toe and ankle injuries will keep him out of action.
Having Ngakoue is a big boost to Las Vegas’ defense, especially as the team feared he would be seriously injured on Tuesday. The veteran passing took six presses out of just 22 passes before leaving the game on Monday night, and his debut with the Raiders was something the organization hadn’t seen in quite some time, such as PFF Austin Gayle pointed out.
Unique Game of the Highest Raiders @PFF Pass-rush success rate since 2014:
1. Maxx Crosby – 47% (2021)
2. Yannick Ngakoué – 43% (2021)
3. Khalil Mack (2016)
4. Khalil Mack (2017)
5. Khalil Mack (2016)
6. Khalil Mack (2016)
7. Khalil Mack (2016)
8. Khalil Mack (2015)
9. Khalil Mack (2015)

The Steelers have question marks in the offensive tackle, so the free agent signing could be in store for another great performance.
As for Jacobs, he will certainly be missing as a red zone option. That’s where his two scores against the Ravens come from, and I would expect newly signed Peyton Barber to win those races against the Steelers.
The Kenyan Drake should also see more action, especially if the Raiders decide to attack the perimeter with their running game, as they will likely start two backup guards. Also, I would expect Gruden to involve Drake more in the passing game this week. However, it looks like the trainer will give Barber the bulk of the runs:
Interesting from Gruden, when asked about the opportunity for the Kenyan Drake with Jacobs:
“We are thrilled with the opportunity for Peyton Barber. We really love Peyton Barber.” #Raiders https://t.co/JWgc7rnWqJ

Preseason superstar and undrafted free agent Trey Ragas would be another option for the Silver and Black. He was active Monday and could be another weapon in the 20 to spell Barber.
For now, those are all injury updates, but I’ll come back once the team releases the final injury report for the week.
UPDATE 1:23 p.m. PST: Raiders release final injury report
Guard Richie Incognito has been officially ruled out due to the same calf injury that kept him out last week.
In addition, linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski (concussion) is missing, along with quarterback Marcus Mariota (quad) and safety Roderic Teamer (ankle).
Defensive end Carl Nassib is listed as dubious with pectoral and toe injuries, as is Darius Philon (knee) who also did not practice on Friday.
The Steelers also released their injury report this afternoon. Defensive tackle Carlos Watkins has a knee injury, while cornerback Joe Haden (groin), linebacker Devin Bush (groin) and tight end Zach Gentry (ankle) are listed as questionable.
