The 2022 World Games reveal the gold, silver and bronze medals as Birmingham, Alabama prepares to prepare for the world’s next major international competition
Before the athletes took to the platform, the crowd watched a 90-second video featuring moving music and fast-paced images of the sports that are on the Games program. The theme that linked the video and the event is “Step Up”.
“Just as athletes around the world will soon be mobilizing to seize their moment of glory, it is from Birmingham time to step onto the world stage. Now that the Olympics are over, we are the next big international sporting competition in the world,” said Nick SellersCEO of the 2022 World Games. “We are honored and proud to bring the world here for the first international multi-sport event with full venues since the pandemic. The world is clamoring to reconnect and we look forward to witnessing history as incredible athletes compete for these medals.”

The 2022 World Games are the next generation of global sports competition and will feature 3,600 elite athletes from more than 100 countries competing for medals in 34 sports. Organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee, the competitions of birmingham will be the first time that the World Games will be held in United States since the inaugural edition of the Games was held in Santa Clara, California in 1981.
In addition to the thousands of athletes, approximately 500,000 spectators will attend the competitions to witness incredible displays of competition and sportsmanship in softball, flag football, gymnastics, dancesport, sumo wrestling, sport climbing, parkour, drone racing and more.
